Reducing Communication Noise

Media School August 20, 2020

Noise will always be there in any type of communication. It cannot be taken out in full, but it can be reduced significantly in some ways.

Most common measures to reduce communication noise are:

1. Using precise language: when you converse, choose your words more precisely that will best express your thoughts.
2. Practicing beforehand: if possible, practice your conversation in significant cases, in front of someone dependable, or in front of the mirror. You can use recording tools if possible; it will help you find out if you need any improvement while speaking and articulating.
3. Inviting feedback: if possible, always ask for feedback. You can learn if you are doing it right or wrong from feedback. Sometimes the audience hesitate to provide feedback on their own; motivate them to respond honestly.
